Damn! That's a great shot!

Was the setting a happenstance, or did you wait for hours or something to get the right light?

This reminds me of the Ansel Adams photograph of a New Mexico town from afar -- when the morning sun struck it just right to limn the edges of the structures.

Setting a happenstance. Was leaving my friends farm to go back to Auckland - about 9.30am. Winter, foggy but sunny and came across this so had to stop.

Took the photo down on my hands and knees in the wet grass with camera pointing up to get this perspective :)

Seems that wherever you are, you always keep your eyes open for a possible good shot (and you always have your camera with you).

I need to learn to do that!

I go around looking at the world as if a camera viewfinder is up at my eye 100% of the time. Stupid I know but that's what I do - so I think in 6x4 format all the time LOL.

Despite having my camera with me all the time I still miss shots.

I missed a shot of a falcon feeding on the side of the road. He was on top of a bright blue fat pukeko who was obviously road carnage. However, I was driving to fast and couldn't stop because of speeding cars behind me - so that was missed.

I missed a shot of about 25 men in orange jackets, all lined up at the side of the road facing the cliff. I imagine they were geologists or something, but they all looked like they were peeing!! I missed that one becuase my mother was driving and she wouldn't stop.

I hate driving/travelling with non photographic people becausse they get impatient, won't stop, and generally don't slow down and appreciate the beauty around them.

A 4 hour drive home will take me about 6 hours :)

Cheers
