The Colourful Buildings of Burano, Venice
Canon 7D, 18-55mm Lens
Walking around the Island of Burano, Venice, late afternoon. The buildings and canals were beautiful colours. I have even gone so far as looking at house prices there - what a great place it would be to live! There would be no end of photographic opportunities!

Petrified Forest, Uncovered for First Time
Canon 7D, 10-22mm Lens
I lived in Auckland, 3km from this beach for 40 years. For the very first time, low tide uncovered this Petrified Forest and volcanic ash/mud on Takapuna Beach. Once this forest went from here through to Great Barrier Island, but Rangitoto put paid to that when it erupted - approximately 600 years ago. The volcano has been dormant since, and can be seen here in the distance. It's one of Auckland's Icons, and a view that is missed now I live in the South Island. A stunning winters day, and I even got a photo of someone sunbathing in a Bikini.

Found this yesterday - had been sitting on my computer... alone and forgotten. Much like me really!! Took this in Autumn last year at the Brancott Valley Estate on one of Marlborough's warm blue sky days. I love the view, the colours, the lines and the shadows. One of my favourite places to visit - they not only have great wine, but their coffee is to die for too!

Braving the Elements

Turned up to the lake this morning for a photoshoot with a friend, to find the warm weather of Marlborough, didn't extend an hour up the valley. We arrived to rain, snow, floods with both jetties completely submerged - so that was the in the lake shoot in tatters. We instead went to clinkers to warm up with a hot chocolate.

Santorini Sunset

I never thought sunsets like these were real, until I experienced them myself. Always thought that photohop had played a part. This is straight out of the camera. That huge ball of orange seemingly melting into the sea. Amazing!
