Apparently the council in Burano controls the colour of the houses. I think they're doing a great job as there is such contrast and brightness. I love bright colours and I'm sure it affects the mood of the residents - they were so friendly and cheerful.

Early morning a the White Bluffs at Mt Vernon, Marlborough.  I would love to be able to explore this area again as the landscape was fascinating and the beach was really interesting - quite wild, incredible rock formations.  Great photographic opportunities.

Little Silvereye

Little Silvereye on my apple tree in my garden.  These birds dart at the speed of light.  Sometimes when I was out photographing them, they would all suddenly disappear.  After five minutes of waiting around I finally look around to find my cat hiding behind me and it's not until I put her inside and lock her in, that they will come back and allow me to photograph them again.  Smart cat, smart birds!  Not so smart human for taking so long to figure out why the birds had disappeared!

Molesworth Landscape

Taken in summer on the Molesworth station.  Huge vistas of farmland seemingly uninhabited.  High country and stunningly beautiful.

Mike is a working dog on the Mt Olympus Station.  Always eager to round up sheep his enthusiasm for his work is amazing to watch.  Beautiful temperament as well and those soft brown eyes can melt the hardest heart!

Coldwater Creek

Took this in the Midday sun but used an ND10 Filter to slow it down.  I also took a lot of the glare away  Quite pleased with the result as it was the first time I used the filter.  The creek was freezing cold as it was in the Rainbow Valley next to the Molesworth Station in High Country.  Snow fed.

Main Street, Venice

Main street in Venice, taken from the Rialto Bridge.  Early morning light, and the colour of the buildings reflected in the water.  Not too busy in October but plenty of activity on the water.  Had to pinch myself as I had seen this view thousands of times in photographs, films, movies, advertisements, but couldn't believe I was actually seeing it for real myself, right there with my own eyes!

Moroccan Grasshopper

Taken lying down on an awkward angle trying to catch him before he jumped away.  This bug was quite big, and I have to say I prefer spiders to these creatures, as their jumping is unpredictable!

This is as far as a female could go.  The men are off to the mosque to prayer - called six times per day. Taken in a small village of Ismail Moulay near Meknes, Morocco.

Taken while walking down an alley-way in Vaisons La Romaine, France. An absolutely beautiful town with an ancient old village on the hill. Would have loved to have spent a day or two there instead of the few hours we had. The first image is the original. The Little Silver-Eye

Taken in my backgarden when I lived Auckland, on the apple tree.  I miss the little white-eyes down here in Marlborough. I have planted lots of native trees in the hope of attracting them. So far I have fantails only, but I'm not complaining as they are also beautiful.
