Singapore Laser Show

Buy Now

Enjoyed the Singapore Laser Show - we were lucky the heavy rain cleared up so we could see it! I didn't travel with my tripod so just stuck the camera on the ground near the edge. Turned out well.

Karamea Bush - New Zealand

A river deep in the Karamea Kuhurangi National Park. Beautiful bush, the river is really this colour from the tanin from all the trees decomposing deep in the bush. Stunning contrast of reds and greens and crystal clear water.

The Photographers Wife

I'm sure this scene is very familiar to photographers when their partners aren't photographers themselves. Either the long suffering Wife or Husband. I was greatly amused when I saw this!

Tiny little fly very conveniently just flew onto this moss that I was photograhing. Stuck around for ages so got several good shots of him, and certainly made the moss more interesting.

Ice-cream in Zadar, Croatia

Taken in Zadar, Croatia.  This was an amazing shop for ice-cream. The best I saw in the whole of Europe, beautifully marketed, and it tasted divine.  I had to go back several times.

Plitvice Lakes Waterfall, Croatia

We had a day in the Plitvice Lake area and walked the whole park. It was amazing, just as you turn a corner you think you can’t see anything possibly more beautiful than the last corner, and each time you are proved wrong. This area should be one of the 8th wonders of the world!

Croatian Vista

This is a beautiful landscape somewhere between Dubrovnik and Split. The most amazing vista, beautifully green, and the clouds – were simply amazing. We later got heavy rain, but I’ve never seen clouds quite like this.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik is beautiful. I loved wandering round the old Town, and in particular walking the wall at near sunset, very late afternoon when some of the heat of the day had passed. The colours and scenery were a treat for the eyeballs.

Strp, Montenegro

Buy Now

Beautiful coastline of Montenegro. This was taken at Strp, between Dubrovnik and Kotor. Fabulous weather, fabulous scenery. We had a wonderful tour guide through Cheap Dubrovnik Tours. For 160 euros, we got a guide, who was full of really interesting information, personalised tour, and as photographers (there were three of us), we could stop anywhere we liked. It was a full day of 10 hours of absolute delight. Well worth it. On that tour, I took over 400 images, which I've managed to whittle down to 167!

A Locked View

A lock attached to a fence in Dubrovnik. These are springing up all over Europe but only a few here on this fence so far. I thought it makes a lovely contrast with the colours of that adriatic sea and the bright red lock.

Beautiful old tree not far from my place. It shook the birds out just for the camera. Not sure what the birds were – wondered if they were swallows.

Pied Stilt

One late winters afternoon a wee ago or so, I sat in a cold, damp, smelly, swamp, hidden behind some rushes to get this shot. I ended up with a very wet backside, mud all over me. I think it was worth it!

White Faced Heron

Buy Now

The White-faced Heron, Egretta novaehollandiae, also known as the White-fronted Heron, and incorrectly as the Blue Heron, is a common bird throughout most of Australasia, including New Zealand. It is a relatively small heron, pale, slightly bluish-grey, with yellow legs and white facial markings. It can be found almost anywhere near shallow water, fresh or salt, and although it is prompt to depart the scene on long, slow-beating wings if disturbed, it will boldly raid suburban fish ponds.

Parting the Water

Photographing a Cygnet up at the Taylor dam in June I caught the young bird diving under the water to grab some food. You can clearly see it’s beak open under the water, and also the water parting away from his feathers. I thought it was quite an interesting sight!
